Is there an age limit?
The bottom limit for all our experiences is 5 years due to the size of the tails. There is no upper limit so all are welcome to experience life as a mermaid.
What skill level do I need to try mermaid swimming?
For our swimming experiences as long as you are able to swim unaided 25m and are happy holding your breath and going underwater you may come to one of our swimming experiences! We also need to see you swim 5m dolphin kick, which is the leg kick to butterfly, so if you haven’t swam in this way before please go have a practice first! We will do a swim test at the start to make sure all participants are competent and able before putting you in a tail.
I’m a non-swimmer, can I still attend a mermaid experience?
Yes! We also offer photo shoots and story time with refreshments where you can meet our mermaid, Petrichor, which would be suitable for non-swimmers. Please make it clear at booking that you are a non-swimmer.
Do I get all the photos and videos or is there an extra charge?
We include a package of photographs and video for you as part of the package.
Will I learn to swim in a tail?
If you choose one of our “in pool” packages this is the best way to try out swimming like a mermaid in a safe controlled environment. Our head mermaid will give you advice on how to master the technique and once you are swimming happily you may even learn a few mermaid tricks! For very confident swimmers and people who have done open water snorkeling or diving we sometimes use seaside locations, but for children or less experienced swimmers you need to book one of our pool packages if you wish to swim.
Do you offer this as a hen / stag party?
Sure! We welcome groups of adults wanting to celebrate and have a unique experience. Let us know so we can sort out some refreshments for you to make it extra special! For guys wanting a stag party we need to make sure we have monofins big enough to fit the male foot, so please give us plenty of notice to give us the best chance of accommodating your needs.
How many people can share the mermaid experience?
We have a maximum of 8 participants for your safety.
What safety do you have in place?

We have a trained lifeguard as part of the team with the relevant safety equipment so you can be assured you are in safe hands. A pool noodle is available to give extra buoyancy for any nervous mermaids, just to help you get your confidence! We are DBS checked and hold public liability insurance with the STA. Petrichor the mermaid is a qualified swimming teacher and Monofin and Mermaid Instructor.
What kind of camera do you use?
We use a high resolution S24 Ultra 200MP camera for our still shots, and we use our trusty GoPro for our moving & underwater video footage.
